Musical fireworks, passion, vertiginous speed, and laughter through tears are hallmarks of Romanian and Gypsy music. Gypsy themes in Haydn's Piano Trio in G Major, Brahms' Piano Quartet in G minor, Ravel's Tzigane, and David Popper's Rhapsody provide a map to a certain world of poetic and passionate melancholy. A cameo appearance by Bizet's famous gypsy, Carmen, in the guise of Metropolitan mezzo-soprano Lucille Beer. Dress cod: Gypsy, Bravura!

Set to songs of The Mamas and The Papas, Changes is accompanied by a program note that states: "We remember the Sixties as being defined by the demand for radical change. Rejecting politicians' fear-mongering and their disastrous war in Vietnam, young people questioned authority and embraced liberation movements. While this era seems singular, in fact it was not. The more things change, the more they stay the same." Changes has costumes by Santo Loquasto and lighting by Jennifer Tipton. The evening program also features the 1978 dance Diggity, a delightful romp in which Alex Katz-designed dogs on stage create an obstacle course for the dancers, and Arden Court (1981), an ebullient celebration of movement set to a baroque score.

Family friendly afternoon performance includes Diggity and Cloven Kingdom (1976), in which the choreographer reveals the animal nature lurking just beneath man's sophisticated veneer.

SPECIAL EVENING INVITATION: $250 per person for Preferred Seating for The Premiere of Changes to the music of the Mamas and the Papas, and Post Premiere Party including light supper and refreshments, along with meet greet and sweet retreat with the dancers of Paul Taylor Dance Company at Crissey Farm with this celebrated & talented dance troupe!
